Buntingford Church Conversion

Buntingford Church Conversion

Project Description

An ancient derelict church with a history dating back to Norman times was purchased to convert into a unique and incredible private individual home. The owners deep interest in the historic fabric of the ancient monument combined with modern ideas and style, lead to a project that was truly unique.

The Challenge

All the Oak used on the project for structural work, joinery and finishing had to be certified English Oak with full traceability. It also needed to be very stable and have light character to give the owners desired effect on the project providing an ‘age realistic’ finish. This involved considerable discussions with the client and the project manager to determine the exact requirements.

Following this, a ‘grade establishment’ meeting was held where individual boards were turned and inspected to provide Whippletree with a blue print for the continuing search for boards to suit the project.

The Results

An extremely stylish but historically sympathetic conversion following the thousands of hours of dedicated attention to detail from all concerned with the project.
